Punjab human organ transplantation rules challenged in LHC

The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued notices to the government of Punjab and the provincial health department over the rules regarding human organs transplantation .A petitioner has challenged the health department’s rules in the high court.

The petitioner pleaded to the court that the provincial health department’s rules were not in conformity with the Human Organs Transplantation Act 2010 .The law permits, after approval from a concerned committee, donation of a kidney from a non-relative person, but under the health department’s rules a non-relative could not donate a kidney to a patient.
